Setup

  1. Full court. GK holds the ball in the defensive circle as if they have just taken a rebound.
  2. gs, ga, wa and c mark as attackers who have just lost the ball; gk marks GS.
  3. Teammates start in their own areas: WD, C, WA, GA and GS ready to lead.

How it runs

  1. On "Go", GK turns and passes out wide to WD within 3 seconds.
  2. C, WA and GA lead in turn so the ball reaches the goal circle in four passes or fewer.
  3. Score 2 points for a goal within four passes, 1 for a goal after more.
  4. Rotate the ball start between GK and GD every three reps.

Coaching points

  • First pass out wide, away from the crowded circle.
  • Lead early: be moving before the catch in front of you lands.
  • Pass to space ahead of the runner when the lane is open.

Common mistakes

  • Holding the ball to look for a perfect option and letting the defence reset.
  • Two players leading for the same pass.
  • Throwing over a whole third (the ball must be touched in each third).

Say it: “Win it, wide, and go.”

Make it harder

  • Add wd and gd so every pass is contested.
  • Three passes maximum before the circle.

Make it easier

  • Opponents defend at walking pace for the first pass.
  • Remove c so C is free through the centre third.
