Setup

  1. Full court, 6v6 or 7v7. The bib team works the ball into its circle at the GD and GK end.
  2. Coach stands on the side with a stopwatch and a spare ball to restart straight away.

How it runs

  1. When the defence wins the ball (intercept, rebound or held ball) the clock starts.
  2. A goal inside 10 s and 4 passes is 3 points, inside 15 s is 1 point, slower scores nothing. The bib team chases all the way.
  3. On the turnover, one player offers forward, one offers back and everyone else sprints to their attacking position.
  4. Reps of 45–60 s with 60 s rest; 8 reps, then swap ends.

Coaching points

  • The first pass matters most: play it to the closest free player within a second, before the other team resets.
  • Go long only when the receiver is clear and the defender is behind; otherwise two short passes beat one lob.
  • Shooters get into the circle early and hold the front space so the ball can go straight in.
  • Quick, not hurried: if the break is gone, settle and play the possession.

Common mistakes

  • Celebrating the intercept and holding the ball while the opposition resets.
  • Everyone sprinting forward, so there's no safe back option.
  • Forcing the long ball into a defence that has already recovered.

Say it: “Win it, first pass inside a second, go.”

Make it harder

  • Full points only inside 8 s and 3 passes.
  • The bib team starts with an extra defender already back in its own circle.

Make it easier

  • The bib team waits 2 s after the turnover before chasing.
  • Count passes only, not time.
