Setup

  1. Mark a 30 × 24 m box.
  2. Two teams of four inside. One floater on each end line, one floater inside.
  3. Floaters play for the team with the ball. End floaters stay on their line.

How it runs

  1. A team scores a point by getting the ball from one end floater to the other.
  2. After a point they keep the ball and attack back the other way.
  3. When a team loses it, they press at once. Winning it back within 5 seconds is a point.
  4. Play 3-minute games. Swap the floaters every game.

Coaching points

  • Lose it, and the nearest player presses the ball while the rest close the short passes.
  • Win it, and look forward first. Can you reach a floater quickly?
  • Spread out as soon as your team wins it. Get wide and away from your marker.
  • Inside floater, keep moving to stay between the defenders.

Common mistakes

  • Players stop to complain after losing the ball.
  • After winning it, the team stays bunched and gives it straight back.
  • Every pass goes sideways and nobody looks for the end floater.

Say it: “Lose it, press. Win it, spread.”

Make it harder

  • Three touches max for the team players.
  • The pressing team must win it back in 4 seconds.

Make it easier

  • Make the box 35 × 28 m.
  • Add a second floater inside.
