- Equipment
- 5 basketballs, one per pair (size 5 under 12, size 6 or 7 older)5 spot markers or cones
Setup
- Five spots in an arc about 2 to 3 m from the basket: baseline, wing, middle, wing, baseline.
- Pairs: one shooter, one rebounder under the basket.
How it runs
- Shoot from the first spot; a make moves you to the next spot.
- A miss means shoot again from the same spot.
- Go round and back again, then swap shooter and rebounder.
Coaching points
- Balance: feet shoulder-width, shooting foot slightly forward.
- Eyes on the target, the front of the ring, before and during the shot.
- Elbow under the ball, guide hand on the side.
- Follow through: wrist snaps, fingers point at the ring, hold it.
Common mistakes
- Shooting while still moving onto the spot.
- Both hands pushing the ball, so it flies sideways.
- Dropping the follow-through straight after release.
Say it: “Feet set, elbow in, snap and hold.”
Make it harder
- Move the spots back to the edge of the key.
- Two makes in a row to move on.
Make it easier
- Move every spot one step closer.
- Use a lower ring (2.6 m) if the hall has one.
