Setup
- CO stands to the side of the far end with the bucket on a chair or stand, clear of the player's path.
- Mark a target area near the end line on the half furthest from CO, so no drive is aimed at the feeder.
- Waiting players stand back from the table with a net or tube and keep the floor around it clear.
How it runs
- Set 1: 20 balls fed to P1's forehand half at a steady rhythm; P1 drives each one at the target.
- Set 2: CO alternates the forehand corner and the middle; P1 side-steps to play every ball with the forehand.
- Rotate after each set. Everyone gathers the balls before the next player starts.
- Score target hits out of 20 and try to beat the score next round.
Coaching points
- Turn the waist and shoulders back as the ball comes, weight on the right foot (left foot for left-handers).
- Swing forward and slightly up, finishing with the bat in front of the forehead as the weight moves across.
- Contact in front of the body at the top of the bounce.
- Recover after every shot: bat back to neutral, feet ready to move.
Common mistakes
- An arm-only swing with no turn of the body.
- Hitting harder as the feeds speed up instead of keeping the same stroke.
- Playing from the wrong distance: too close and cramped, or stretching.
Say it: “Turn, hit, recover.”
Make it harder
- Faster feeds.
- Add a third point, the backhand corner, played with a pivot onto the forehand.
Make it easier
- Slower feeds to the forehand corner only.
- A bigger target area.
