- Area
- Third of a court
- Equipment
- 1 size 4 netball (the talking ball)1 water bottles
Setup
- Use one third of the court.
- The coach waits in the middle with the talking ball.
How it runs
- Players walk one or two slow laps of the third, breathing out long.
- Everyone circles up for calf, hamstring, quad and shoulder stretches, each held for 20 seconds.
- The coach passes the talking ball round; whoever holds it shares one thing that went well and one to work on.
- The coach finishes with one focus for next session.
Coaching points
- Walk, don't jog: the heart rate should come down.
- Stretch slowly to a gentle pull, never a bounce.
- Keep answers short and specific: 'my landing', not 'everything'.
- Praise effort and good decisions, not only goals.
Common mistakes
- Rushing the stretches to get to the drink break.
- The same few players doing all the talking.
Say it: “Slow down, stretch, share one win.”
Make it harder
- Players pick one goal for the next session and say how they will practise it.
- Pairs give each other one piece of positive feedback.
Make it easier
- Thumbs up, sideways or down for how the session felt.
- Coach asks one question and players answer by hands up.
