Setup

  1. Pairs with a standard grip, tori and uke.

How it runs

  1. Tori enters for o-goshi: pull, turn, hips in, lift to the toes, then step out.
  2. Three sets of ten, then swap.
  3. Last set: throw on every third entry.

Coaching points

  • Pull uke onto their toes before you turn.
  • Feet inside uke's feet, knees bent, hips low.
  • Back straight; lift with the legs.

Common mistakes

  • Turning before breaking balance.
  • Hips too high, bending at the waist.

Say it: “Pull, turn, hips in.”

Make it harder

  • Moving uchikomi, stepping across the mat.
  • Three entries in 10 seconds.

Make it easier

  • Pull and turn only, no lift.
  • Slow with a hand on the hip.
