Pass and sole-stop in pairs
Partners pass along the floor through a cone gate and stop every ball dead with the sole.
Start / 5
- Time
- 10 min
- Players
- 2–16
- Age
- U6+
- Area
- 8 m per pair
- Equipment
- 16 cones8 futsal balls (size 3 or 4, low-bounce)
Setup
- Pairs face each other 6 m apart, one ball per pair.
- Two cones 1 m apart halfway between them make a gate.
How it runs
- A1 passes along the floor through the gate with the inside of the foot.
- A2 stops it dead with the sole, then passes back through the gate.
- Ten passes each, then both take a big step back.
- Second round: stop it with the sole, roll it to the side with the sole, then pass.
Coaching points
- Lift the sole early, toes higher than the heel, so the ball runs into the foot.
- Stop it just in front of the body, not underneath.
- Point the standing foot at your partner when you pass.
- Pass along the floor; the ball should never bounce.
Common mistakes
- Lifting the foot too late so the ball runs under it.
- Stabbing at the pass so it pops up and bounces.
- Waiting flat-footed instead of up on the toes.
Say it: “Sole up, stop, pass.”
Make it harder
- Stop and pass with the weaker foot.
- One touch to stop, one to pass, nothing extra.
- Move 10 m apart.
Make it easier
- Stand 4 m apart.
- Partner rolls the ball with their hands.
