Setup
- Two lines with balls at halfway, one on each side of the court.
- A cone 6 m in front of each line as a defender. A goalkeeper in goal.
How it runs
- A1 dribbles at the cone, shifts the ball past it and shoots without an extra touch.
- As soon as A1 shoots, A2 goes from the other line.
- Shooters collect their ball and join the other line.
Coaching points
- Shift the ball out of your feet with the last touch, into the shooting lane.
- Shoot on the next step: no settling touch.
- Toe-poke for a quick, hard shot; laces when there's more time.
- Aim low and across the keeper, to the far post.
- Follow in for rebounds.
Common mistakes
- Taking an extra touch and letting the keeper set.
- Leaning back and shooting over.
- Shooting straight at the keeper's body.
Say it: “Shift and shoot.”
Make it harder
- Replace the cones with passive defenders.
- Shot must come before the 10 m mark.
Make it easier
- Stationary ball after the cone, then shoot.
- No goalkeeper; aim for a target corner.
