Setup
- Mark a 25 × 20 m area with a goal and a keeper at one end.
- Two attackers start on the far line with a ball. One defender starts on a cone 10 m out from goal.
- Everyone else waits in lines by the attackers' and the defender's cones.
How it runs
- The attackers go 2v1 to score. The defender tries to win it and dribble over the far line.
- Each go lasts up to 10 seconds, then the next three go.
- Rotate - attacker to defender, defender to the back of the attackers' line.
Coaching points
- Dribble at the defender to make them choose.
- If the defender comes to you, pass. If they stay off, keep going and shoot.
- Partner, stay wide and level or just behind, so the pass is easy.
- Shoot low and follow in for rebounds.
Common mistakes
- Passing too early, before the defender has moved, so they just shift across.
- The second attacker running in front of the ball and getting in the way.
Say it: “Draw them in, then pass or go.”
Make it harder
- The defender starts closer to the attackers.
- A second defender chases from behind after 3 seconds.
Make it easier
- The defender can only walk.
- Make the area 30 m wide for more room.
