Setup
- Keeper up to the stumps, a feeder 12 m away throwing from a crouch.
How it runs
- Feeder throws a mix of leg-side and off-side balls; the keeper takes and returns.
- Every third ball the feeder calls 'stump': take and whip the bails off.
- Two sets of 12, then swap.
Coaching points
- Stay low until the ball passes the batter's line.
- Hands give with the ball, fingers pointing down.
- Take and stump in one movement, don't snatch.
Common mistakes
- Standing up too early.
- Grabbing at the ball with hard hands.
Say it: “Stay low, give with it.”
Make it harder
- Add a batter shadow-playing.
- Throws that bounce before the keeper.
Make it easier
- Softer ball, slower throws.
- Keeper stands back.
