Setup

  1. Two attackers on the baseline with a ball, one defender at the far free-throw line.

How it runs

  1. Attackers push the ball up the court in two lanes.
  2. The defender takes one; the ball goes to the other for the lay-up.
  3. The defender then joins the next attacking pair.

Coaching points

  • Ball handler attacks the defender to make them commit.
  • Second runner stays wide and ahead, hands ready.
  • One pass, one lay-up: don't over-pass.

Common mistakes

  • Both attackers running the same lane.
  • Passing early before the defender commits.

Say it: “Make them commit.”

Make it harder

  • 3-on-2 with a trailing defender.
  • Finish in 6 seconds.

Make it easier

  • Defender stays on one side.
  • Jogging pace.
