Shooting off movement under fatigue
A shooter sprints off a screen, catches and shoots, then crosses the floor for the next shot, for 60 seconds at game pace.

- Area
- Half court
- Equipment
- 4 basketballs2 cones
Setup
- Two passers with a ball each at the top, a cone on each side of the lane as the screen, a rebounder under the ring.
- One shooter works, the rest pass or rebound and rotate after each set.
How it runs
- The shooter sprints off the cone to the wing, catches on the hop and shoots.
- Straight away they cross through the lane to the far corner for the next pass, then back off the cone.
- 60 seconds on, 60 seconds rest; three sets each. Count makes out of attempts.
- Rebounder feeds the ball back to the passers so the shooter never waits.
Coaching points
- Sprint into the catch, then slow down: feet set before the ball arrives.
- Hands ready at the chest, same base and release on the last shot as on the first.
- Use the cone as a real screen: run shoulder to shoulder past it.
- Note the make rate in the last 20 seconds; that is your game number.
Common mistakes
- Drifting into the catch and fading on the shot.
- Jogging between shots and turning it into a shooting drill, not a fatigue drill.
Say it: “Sprint to the catch, settle the feet.”
Make it harder
- Add a defender with a pad who closes out on every shot.
- Shot fake and one dribble on every third catch.
Make it easier
- Shoot from inside the arc for the first set.
- 45 seconds on, 75 seconds rest.
