Setup
- A line at the top of the key with the balls and a line on the wing.
- Once the cut is sharp, add a defender on each attacker for 2v2.
How it runs
- The top player passes to the wing, then cuts hard to the basket.
- The wing hits the cutter with a bounce pass for a lay-up.
- In 2v2, cut in front of a defender who turns to watch the ball; go backdoor if they deny.
- Players swap lines after each go; defenders become attackers.
Coaching points
- Pass, then go: no standing to admire the pass.
- Sell it first: one step away, then explode to the rim.
- Show a target hand to the passer as you cut.
- Wing: pass ahead of the cutter, low and on time.
Common mistakes
- Cutting slowly or drifting, so the defender stays attached.
- Travelling on the catch: jump stop or take two steps only.
Say it: “Give it, then go.”
Make it harder
- Live 2v2 to one basket, defence plays hard.
- Wing must catch on the move after a V-cut.
Make it easier
- No defence, walk the cut first.
- Allow one dribble before the lay-up.
