3v3 pass-only game
A half-court 3v3 game with no dribbling, so players must pivot, pass and cut to get open and score.

- Time
- 12 min
- Players

- Age
- U7–U12
- Area
- Half court
- Equipment
- 2 basketballs (size 5)6 bibs
Setup
- Two teams of three in the half court; extra teams wait on the sideline.
- Attack starts with the ball at the top; defenders pick a player each.
How it runs
- No dribbling: move the ball by passing; the player with it can pivot.
- Score with a lay-up or shot; a basket is 2, three passes in a row is 1.
- Defenders stay an arm's length away, no grabbing the ball from hands.
- On a score or a turnover, the teams swap; play 2-minute games and rotate teams in.
Coaching points
- Pass and cut: after you pass, cut hard to the basket or to open space.
- Pivot to find the open teammate; keep the ball away from the defender.
- Show a target hand where you want the ball.
- Space out: no two attackers within 3 m of each other.
Common mistakes
- Everyone crowding round the ball.
- Standing still after passing.
- Lifting or dragging the pivot foot, which is a travel.
Say it: “Pass and cut, pivot and look.”
Make it harder
- Count 3 seconds in the key for attackers.
- Defenders may try to steal passes in the air.
Make it easier
- Play 3v2, with the coach as an extra passer.
- Any pass to a teammate inside the key scores 1.
